
Dr Niklas Serning is the Chief Instructor of Cognitive Warfare in a Military Intelligence unit. He is currently providing training and ongoing operational cultural and psychological analysis support to a range of Military Intelligence Units, Special Operations Forces and governmental agencies in the UK and abroad (NATO and aligned countries). Niklas also supports a small number of UK FTSE 100 companies in organisational leadership and management, is active in academia and research, and supervises a National Counter Trafficking Team.
He draws upon over three decades of leveraging culture for effect. His background includes managing democratisation and civil society projects for UNDP in Timor L’Este, leading the UN project on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in the conflict affected areas of North and East Sri Lanka, and leading Civic Education campaigns and elections in Afghanistan under the aegis of UN’s Department for Peacekeeping Operations.
Niklas is a Chartered Psychologist and Existential Psychotherapist, his doctoral research focused on humanitarians and culture shock. He has been trained by the UN and British and US Armed Forces in a range of areas, including Civil Military Cooperation, Military Deception and Military Psychological Operations. He is a graduate of Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and holds the rank of Captain in the British Army.
